When Erin Bacon called to cancel her double mastectomy, doctors told her she was going to die.

The 33-year-old American Airlines worker from Florida had been diagnosed with stage two breast cancer in February 2022 after she found a large lump behind her right nipple.

By the time her surgery was scheduled, she had already been through seven months of grueling chemotherapy - which left her feeling constantly sick and struggling to breathe. But she said the treatment had 'barely shrunk' her three-inch tumor.

The next step, doctors said, was to remove both breasts. But Bacon was completely against the idea of surgery.

'I just knew this wasn't the path I wanted to go down,' she told the Daily Mail. 'It's difficult for anyone to lose their breasts, but especially at 33 years old, when you're a little young, and you feel like you're in the prime of your life.'

After canceling the appointment in September 2022, Bacon turned to alternative remedies she found on the internet, adopting a strict vegan diet and drinking herbal teas.

For a while, she believed the remedies were working - there is some medical evidence that suggests slashing sugar consumption from a patient's diet can slow cancer growth. But after more than a year, her tumor began to grow again.

Desperate for a cure, but still not wanting surgery, Bacon found the Williams Cancer Institute based in California. She signed up for an experimental therapy they offer out of a satellite office in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Bacon told the Daily Mail that she had always led a healthy life, staying 'very active' with Pilates, weightlifting and cardio classes, and sticking to a nutritious diet.

She routinely checked her breasts for signs of cancer after her aunt and grandmother were diagnosed with the disease, which is how she discovered the lump. Both survived the cancer - her aunt received a lumpectomy and radiation, and her grandmother had a mastectomy and lived to be 94.

After visiting her doctor about the lump, Bacon was told she had stage two invasive ductal carcinoma, the most common form of breast cancer. It is behind 80 percent of cases and originates in the milk ducts of the breasts.

At stage two, about 93 percent of patients survive more than five years, and 35 percent undergo a mastectomy.

Her initial chemo treatment included infusions of three different drugs over the course of one four-hour session a week.

Among the drugs used was doxorubicin, also known as the 'red devil' because of its bright red color. The drug is used to treat several cancers, including of the breasts, lungs and ovaries. It works by interfering with the DNA in cancer cells and slowing their multiplication.

Bacon said she initially recovered well from the infusions, but soon started to feel tired constantly, lost her taste and felt like she 'couldn't breathe' - doxorubicin can cause damage or injury to the heart muscle.

Even with the treatment, she told the Daily Mail her tumor shrank 'very little.'

She said that was when the double mastectomy came into play. She recalled being told it would eradicate the cancer before it spread to her healthy breast or elsewhere in the body.

Bacon initially agreed, but four days before her appointment, she cancelled the operation.

'My doctor, the surgeon, called me,' she recalled to the Daily Mail. 'And she's like screaming at me, "Are you sure you want to cancel?" And I'm like, "Yeah, I'm positive"...

'Blatantly, she said, "If you don't have a mastectomy, you're going to die."'

After her subsequent failed attempts to treat the cancer herself, Bacon frantically searched the internet for 'alternative breast cancer treatments' and eventually found the Institute.

The center's approach treats cancer by targeting tumors directly to reveal them to the immune system, cause it to seek out and destroy cancer cells.

Within three weeks of contacting the Institute in late 2023, Bacon was transferred to Mexico from her home in Florida for her first treatment.

A representative from the Institute told the Daily Mail it administers this treatment abroad, in part, so it can use immunotherapy drugs not currently approved in the US. They also said it can save patients money, explaining that an immunotherapy drug that costs $10,000 in the US can cost just $1,000 in Mexico.

In the experimental procedure, doctors fire high-voltage electrical waves at the tumor in a method called Pulsed Electric Field (PEF) ablation therapy. This aims to kill cancer cells and alert the immune system to the disease.

Then, the team infuses a cocktail of immunotherapy drugs directly into the tumor, which also helps to reveal the cancer to the immune system.

Almost no immunotherapy drug has been FDA approved for injection directly into a tumor.

The treatment differs from more widely used methods, in which the immunotherapy drugs are infused into patients via a vein in their arm. The Williams Institute argues that this confuses the immune system and makes the treatment less effective.

Dr Barry Hahn, an emergency medicine physician, told the Daily Mail that patients looking to try novel cancer treatments should exercise a 'measure of caution.'

'Just because something is not FDA approved doesn't mean it can't work, and something that is FDA approved won't always work,' he said.

'I am a big believer in the body healing itself and I am all for trying new therapies, but I think this should be taken with a measure of caution. I am not involved in the research, but you can't make any general conclusions from a population of one or small population size.'

The Williams Cancer Institute has not presented data on how effective its treatment has been for breast cancer patients.

But in June, it revealed at the American Society of Clinical Oncology's (ASCO's) annual conference in Chicago, that eight out of 15 patients, or 53 percent, with stage four prostate cancer saw signs of their cancer disappearing after the treatment.

Doctors involved in the study underlined how sick the patients were, saying 13 had cancers that had spread to their bones and, in every case, their disease had not responded to standard treatments.

Within a month of her first treatment at the center, Bacon's tumor shrunk by 92 percent.

'A lot of the doctors were like, "Wow." They were expecting good results, especially because of my age, but not expecting it to be this fast,' she told the Daily Mail.

Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer diagnosed in women, with about 315,000 new cases every year, according to the American Cancer Society.

Behind lung cancer (42,000 annual deaths), it is the second leading cause of cancer death among women.

Breast cancer patients are around 63 years old on average, but the cancer, like many others, is becoming more common in younger people.

A 2024 study found that diagnoses of breast cancer among people under 50 years old has been rising by nearly two percent each year since 2010.

Doctors are not sure why breast cancer cases are rising among women, but have suggested that sedentary lifestyles and pollutants in the environment might be to blame.

After receiving the initial results, Bacon went for two more infusions over the course of three months. Her tumor completely disappeared, she told the Daily Mail.

Bacon said she was declared effectively cancer-free in July 2025, after about a year of scans and monitoring showed the cancer had not returned.

Typically, doctors wait for five years after a tumor has completely disappeared before they declare someone cancer-free.

She still undergoes regular scans back at her local hospital to check for the cancer, but doctors have told her that, as of now, there have been no signs the disease has returned.

'It's changed my life,' Bacon told the Daily Mail, 'It brought me back to my faith and, you know, it just gave me a second chance at everything. I don't take it for granted anymore.'

To others going through diagnosis, 'I would say... life is not over. You know, do your research. Don't allow one doctor to tell you what you need to do. Don't allow fear-mongering. Just, again, be your own advocate. Do your research.

'There's different ways of healing. It is not a one-size-fits-all approach.'

It was a big step to go from Sydney, Australia to Mexico City for his treatment but it’s all been worthwhile.

I was stage 4 NSCLC with mets to my lymph nodes.

His recommended treatment, supplement regime, off label drugs and pre and pro biotics stopped growth immediately, this was followed over 3 months with a continuous reduction in size of all tumors and no new mets.

Dr Williams then suggested I follow up with Keytruda infusions in Australia and so far this in combination with his intertumoral injections has been successful….which was exactly what he predicted would happen.

I was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in July 2018. After several high PSA readings, a biopsy and MRI were scheduled and revealed significant cancer in the prostate with a Gleason 3+4=7 score with extracapsular extension along with a lymph node abnormality.

At the end of 2019 I consulted with a leading prostate cancer specialist who confirmed my cancer was metastatic and was not curable by approved standard of care treatments, including systemic immunotherapy because my cancer doesn’t possess the specific genetic mutations to make that viable.

Dr. Williams explained in careful detail the combination of four immunotherapy agents that would be used in a treatment series. It was a fascinating discussion of how each drug would work to amplify immune system function or suppress cancer evasion activity, and how those processes would work synergistically to maximize an attack on the cancer. Very importantly, he also explained the necessity for supplements taken prior to the treatment to boost the immune system.

I was treated with a series of three intratumoral immunotherapy injection procedures over the course of a week in January 2020. All my reactions to the drugs were exactly as predicted. I’m so lucky to have had the benefit of their knowledge and expertise of the highest level.

I am a patient of Dr. Jason Williams; I was first diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2011. After following traditional medicine for several years, my cancer spread. On November 25, 2020, I was diagnosed with stage 4 Prostate Cancer, with multiple metastases to my bones, with the most significant lesion on my spine.

The prognosis was less than one year to live and zero hopes for a cure by traditional means. After several months with no improvement and associated symptoms worsening, I needed a quick solution.

I was referred to Dr. Williams by my ex-wife. She went to Dr. Jason Williams in 2016 with Stage 4 Lung Cancer and, after receiving treatment, today remains cancer-free.

I can only imagine the precision and skill required to accomplish such an injection. Within four hours of my procedure, I was able to stand up, hug Dr. Jason Williams, and walk out of the Hospital relatively pain-free. You can see in the scans below that Since my treatment, all of my tumors have disappeared. My PSA remains under a 1. I cannot thank Dr. Jason Williams and the Williams Cancer Institute enough.

I can honestly say today that I owe him my life.

The world is so blessed to have Dr. Jason Williams eager to kill cancer one tumor at a time! He was inspired as a young man by the death of his grandmother to cancer. I was fortunate enough to have him do ablation on my lung.

It’s the solution to many cancers. And just as he said, the procedure is 2 to 3 hours, followed by 2 to 3 hour recovery and then you can go out for lunch! I drove us home the next day to Kentucky! It’s affordable, it works, it’s so much easier on your body, and it makes so much

My name is Tina Willits and in March 2022 I was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer that had spread to my lymph nodes and bones.

As a fifty one year old wife, mother and grandmother, I was determined to find a path to becoming cancer free and find my health again.

My first step was to begin traditional treatments with an oncologist; however, I quickly became frustrated with her approach which was to provide “quality of life” care with a twenty-four-month life expectancy. My oncologist offered chemotherapy but set an expectation that we would only be able to slow the progression of my cancer.

Even with my oncologist’s lack of optimism, I remained determined to find an alternative treatment that would lead to not only stop the progression but eliminate the cancer.

I had heard that some doctors were having great results using immunotherapy treatments, so I began searching online for treatment options. During one of my searches, I came across Dr. Williams book, Immunotherapy Revolution and immediately ordered it from Amazon. I literally read the book in one day and felt strongly that Dr. Williams approach could help me.

My husband is a surgeon and I asked him to read the book from the perspective of a medical doctor. He agreed that Dr. Williams’ treatment made a lot of sense and we decided to reach out to his office.

I contacted Dr. Williams’ office on the Friday of 4th of July weekend. I shared with his friendly staff my prognosis and was assured that my information would be shared with Dr. Williams. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a text message from Dr. Williams the next day, on a Saturday. His passion for helping cancer patients was clear and he texted me supplements to start taking that weekend which would help build my immune system. I cannot express how much it meant to me that he would begin helping me immediately and keep in mind I had not paid him a penny at this point.

In fact, after my procedure, I was brought back to my hospital room and met a woman in the room next to me that was about to go in for the same procedure. We shared with each other our strong belief that Dr. Williams would give us our lives back!

My procedure went very well and we stayed a few days just to make sure I would feel well enough to fly. I had the anticipated immune symptoms after the procedure but felt well enough to go out to do some site seeing and dining. I was able to fly home comfortably and had no complications from the procedure. It still amazes me that his treatment has no long term side effects.

It is with much joy that I am able to share that the MRI that Dr. Williams ordered a few weeks after my procedure showed no active cancer and all my subsequent PET Scans continue to show no evidence of malignancies. This was accomplished without radiation which was one of my goals due to the risk of developing other cancers from the radiation. Additionally, Dr. Williams performs a Signaterra blood test monthly on me which measures circulating cancer cells down to a billionth of a cell which has been maintained at zero which prior to his treatment I had circulating cancer cells.

I cannot thank Dr. Williams and his caring staff enough. The entire team celebrates my continued health. I truly believe Dr. Williams’ procedure saved my life and it is so comforting to know that he accomplished this without putting me at risk for additional cancers. I greatly appreciated his passion for staying on the cutting edge of cancer treatments and I continue to recommend him as well as lots of prayers to anyone facing the daunting diagnosis of cancer.

I am a patient of Dr Jason Williams from 9 years ago, I had stage 4 Lung Cancer with mets to my spine. My journey sent me to Dr Williams after consulting with the top cancer doctors in the USA. I researched my cancer and the stats at the NCI, basically said I would not make it no matter what I did. I took a leap of Faith and headed to Mexico.

Dr Williams vast knowledge of medicine and expertise in cancer was very welcoming. He gave me Hope and he gave me back my life. Dr Williams' treatment should be in every cancer hospital in the World, It made sense to me to go directly to the tumor and not poison the whole body with chemo and radiation.

In February 2012, I was at home in Maryland when I felt an irregular lump in my chest and quickly made a doctor’s appointment. “Come to find out, I had the most aggressive breast cancer my doctor had ever seen in 35 years of practice,” I said. “It was a scary thing and unexpected because I had no history of cancer in my family, no history of breast cancer in any of the women or men. I was 46 years old and just starting a new career.” My doctor laid out traditional treatment options for stage four breast cancer, such as mastectomy, lumpectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation. However, he also told me about a new treatment that Dr. Jason Williams was using in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

At the time, Dr. Williams was using a minimally invasive procedure called cryoablation, where doctors use live imaging to guide a thin probe into tumors. The probe is cooled below freezing, forming a ball of ice at the tip, freezing and destroying cancerous tissue.

I decided to visit Dr. Williams in Alabama and see if I was a candidate for cryoablation. After some scans in his office and additional scans back home, Dr. Williams confirmed I was a viable candidate.

I returned to Alabama for the procedure, which was mostly painless, and returned twice for follow-up appointments. “I wasn’t in any pain. I had a little soreness, but two hours later, my husband and I were sitting at a restaurant in Gulf Shores having dinner, marveling at the fact that that was my treatment for aggressive breast cancer,” I said.

After the procedure, I went through a few rounds of chemotherapy. I was supposed to have eight rounds of dose-dense chemotherapy, once every two weeks. However, after four rounds, doctors were unable to detect cancer in my blood.

“I didn’t lose my hair, it took a beating, but I never lost my hair. There was no recovery time, no incisions, and no loss of breast tissue, except for what needed to be removed,” I said. “I’ve heard from many friends who had mastectomies, and some women have limitations. I never had that. I didn’t struggle with the mental and physical effects of having to go through something so traumatic.”

Since then, I’ve had many difficult conversations with other women who endured double mastectomies. “When I say hard, I mean, it’s difficult to have access to this information and be able to have that kind of procedure when other women don’t know about this,” I said. “I was blessed to have been in the right place at the right time to know this information, which is why I don’t think it should be gatekept.”

Looking back, I thought my cancer diagnosis was going to be life-changing in the worst possible way. But now, 13 years later, I am the executive director of the Life Plus Foundation, a nonprofit that has brought clean water to over 350,000 people in southeastern Kenya and runs food and education programs in more than 30 countries.

“I feel like on some level, because I found the lump right as I was about to start this job, it was providential,” I said. “It stopped me in my tracks, helped me become more compassionate, and gave me a deeper understanding of true suffering.”
