LEGASIL
Legasil is a natural supplement used in treating fatty liver, it is an antioxidant that helps maintain liver function and protects cells against oxidative stress. It contains silibinin (Silybum morianum), which is a flavonoid extracted from the seeds of the milk thistle. This molecule has been found to have an anticancer effect, blocking the migratory and invasive properties of cancerous cells. It has been shown to have effects in lung cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer, bladder cancer, and hepatocellular carcinoma.
In a study made in 2021, they discovered that Silibinin is an inhibitor of TMEM16A, which is a biomarker for lung cancer related to the proliferation of cancer cells. It also inhibits cancer cell signaling pathways, angiogenesis, adhesion, motility, and invasiveness.
It has been shown to help in brain metastasis in patients with non-small cell lung cancer; this benefit in brain metastasis can be due to its antiedema activity; results based on a 67-year-old male with left hemiparesis and walking instability with a CT scan showing nodular lesions in the brain, he underwent whole brain radiation therapy and pemetrexed with no good response and declining in his performance status. He started the supplementation with Legasil, and after four weeks, he started showing clinical improvement in neurological symptoms. After eight weeks in an MRI, there was a decrease in the volume of the brain lesions.
By the evidence so far, it seems to be that Legasil it’s a good supplement that helps to reduce the invasiveness of cancer and also has been shown to improve neurological impairment in patients that underwent brain radiotherapy; there are more studies to be made as to what’s the best dosage for the supplement, and what the exact mechanism of action is it has over all the cancer signaling pathways. So far, it seems that it’s pretty good to start with two capsules dosage a day.
